Animals are good for our soul. They give us so much – keep us physically active; help us to relieve stress, sadness and put a smile on our face.
They teach children and adults about love, compassion, responsibility, respect.
Reiki is a wonderful way to give back to our animal friends – should they choose to received this wonderful healing.
As with humans, Reiki supports the animal body’s natural ability to heal itself on the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels.
Animals are usually very open and sensitive to the Reiki energy. They know exactly how much they need and where they need it.
AN INTRODUCTION TO
My Reiki teachers started with our own family dogs Jasper, Olly, Piglet and Flossy.
Each of these little souls has taught me so much. Jasper is the master of all Reiki lovers, the closer he is and being touched the better, Olly quickly follows but often prefers his own space and will tap me when he wishes to touch. Sadly we’ve recently lost both our little girls. Piglet taught me that animals can pick and choose if they wish to receive Reiki. Flossy was perhaps the biggest teacher of all – showing me when an animal does not want to receive Reiki. It wasn’t until she was ready to die that she invited me to give her Reiki to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge.
During 12 years professionally working with animals, they have profoundly shown me they’re the most compassionate, forgiving, and loving beings.
They live selflessly and generously, with faithful, loyal and trusting hearts showing us unconditional love and devotion. Animals can be simultaneously gentle as lambs, yet fiercely protective of the ones they love. They know how to walk the line between courage and peace.
Animals sense and understand the subtlest of energetic vibrations, they have the innate ability to read energy beautifully. They live their daily lives governed by instinct, intuition and using all their highly developed senses. If we allow, animals are the greatest teachers to us all, in particular to the Animal Reiki Practitioner.
For this, in return, the Let Animals Lead® method honours animals with the utmost respect and dignity, and they chose if they wish to receive Reiki energy.
Let Animals Lead® method has been developed over 20 years of Reiki practice by Kathleen Prasad. It is a beautiful, gentle meditative-based method dedicated to honouring each animal as an equal partner in the healing process and connecting with them on their terms.
Kathleen Prasad developed Let Animals Lead® method to support balance and harmony at all levels – using Reiki maintains health, heals illnesses and injuries and can ease the transition between life and death. Above all, animals are equal partners and are our spiritual teachers, emphasising the virtues of humility, integrity, compassion and gratitude in its practitioners. This unique method also uses an approach that gives animals the same consideration in comfort as humans during Reiki sessions . As practitioners we follow their lead by stepping back, listening, observing and open our hearts.
Benefits to Animals
Animals are so highly tuned into and interact with life force energy, they pick up on our thoughts and intentions. They can absorb our anxieties and worries, which can have an adverse effect on their own health and wellbeing, often being perceived as behavioural issues. Because of this complex relationship and attachment, often the human is also included in animal treatments as they can be a root cause.
Reiki can benefit animals who are experiencing anxiety, under stress, moving home, new home or being rehomed, going into boarding kennels, kennel stress, during illness/injury, pre or post-surgery, behavioural issues, general wellbeing and maintenance of health, support end of life care. Reiki can do no harm, you can’t do it wrong, nor can you overdo Reiki. Reiki will not give any more healing energy to the animal than it is open to receiving. The animal is in control at all times. Reiki cannot be forced upon an animal. They chose to take it for as long as they like and how they like
Reiki is not a magical cure and is not an alternative to orthodox veterinary care but it is a natural, calm therapy that promotes the body’s natural process of self-healing enjoyed by many animals. In most cases, Animal Reiki Practitioners work alongside vets to help maintain health and well-being on the physical, mental and emotional levels. It is an effective, gentle, non-invasive yet powerful approach to healing the body’s systems. One session may be all that is required, or a number of sessions may be necessary. Every animal is unique.

Loving end-of-life care & support
As a qualified Soul Midwife, I offer holistic comfort, care and support to anyone, facing end-of-life including animals. Your pet has walked through life right by your side, giving unconditional love, emotional support and much joy. They are our family – you have a bond and connection that is deep beyond words and the shared sacred moments together are so precocious. When they begin their transition from us and part from our sides, they leave a chasm in our hearts. At the end of their life is when they need us most. They need our love, our strength and simply being present and there for them. Soul Midwives have deep knowledge of the stages of dying, and of the emotional, physical and spiritual aspects of each of these. We use gentle, but extremely powerful holistic skills and therapeutic techniques to help ease anxieties, release trauma and soul wounds and support anyone to prepare for the death of their companion. I can visit, listen, talk about any fears surrounding death, dying and losing your animal soul mate and give practical planning advice and support. Soul Midwives work holistically to help create and hold a loving, calm and peaceful space, wherever the dying animal may be. Vigils can be created and held remotely so there is no intrusion and you can spend the last hours and moments together in your love.
Remote/Directed Reiki sessions can also be booked
From the heart the energy ripples out
Remote sessions are given by sending and offering Reiki without the animal being in front of the practitioner. Reiki energy is allowed to flow to the animal, stretching beyond the limits of space and time zones. Directed healing allows an energetic connection to be made so energy is sent to the animal no matter where they are and is equally as effective as having a face to face session. These sessions can be carried out via WhatsApp or Messenger FaceTime lasting approximately 30 minutes.
Advantages of a Remote/Directed Reiki Session:
◉ When time is a factor and treatments are urgent.
◉ When the frequency of treatment (daily sessions) are recommended but not able to visit a practitioner.
◉ Easy to hold regular sessions over a longer period of time.
◉ Reiki can be directed to past traumatic events which allow healing to take place in the present time.

The Veterinary Surgery Act of 1966 prohibits anyone, other than a qualified veterinary surgeon from treating animals, including diagnosis of ailments and giving advice on such diagnosis. However, the healing of animals by contact healing, by the laying of hands (only if the animal instigates touch) or distant healing is legal. The Protection of Animals Act 1911 requires that if an animal clearly needs treatment from a veterinary surgeon the owner must obtain this. To give emergency First Aid to animals for the purpose of saving a life or relieving pain is permissible under the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 Schedule 3.
Life Force Energy Therapies is a fully qualified Reiki Practitioner in two Reiki Lineages, fully qualified in a number of animal care fields and is Canine Health & First Aid trained and qualified with Dr Sophie Bell BVMS MRCVS.
A BIT MORE ABOUT
Reiki practitioners and those who care for animals have repeatedly observed benefits beyond these. When the body (human or animal) is relaxed, it is in a state when it is best able to naturally heal itself and recover from illness, injury or other stress to the body.
Reiki encourages and supports positive, personal choices and may help animals to better cope with life’s challenges.
Animals are extremely sensitive to touch and movement. They cannot verbally express if they chose to accept Reiki. A Let Animals Lead® practitioner will watch and follow, taking the animals to lead in its own healing journey. We develop listening skills, gain trust and see with our “Reiki eyes” from an open heart by meditation, mindfulness and holding space for an animal to be themselves.
At Life Force Energy Therapies, everything is taken into consideration when it comes to your animal’s health and wellbeing
◉ The animal
◉ The family
And supporting health care professionals – from vets to groomers and dog walkers.
We all work towards the same goal – health, happiness, wellbeing and good quality of life.
The main principles of the Let Animals Lead® method:
Each animal is treated with the utmost respect and dignity. They need to feel confident that they can trust.
They chose if they wish to receive treatment.
It is mainly a no hands practice – the practitioner sits quietly with the animal creating the healing space through meditation and breathing techniques.
The session may be entirely hands-off, or the animal can touch the practitioner or initiate contact.
The animal is free to receive in whichever way is most comfortable, sometimes coming in and out of the healing space several times.
A session lasts anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour.
Practitioners do not diagnose and when needed, will refer the animal to a vet if they have not come from a vet referral (The Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966)
Animals read energy and are very trusting. They need to feel confident that they can trust the Reiki practitioner for the best results to happen.
